There's a lot around about the benefits of starting the day wth lemon water – is it rubbish? Nope, fraid not and sorry (not sorry) – here's another article about why.
Not only are they the colour of sunshine and super flavourful, they also have tons of uses. From domestic cleaning to salad dressings, to homemade face exfoliation, the humble lemon is truly a super.
Lemons are packed with vitamins, hydrating electrolytes and vital minerals the body needs, so there's good reason why any health professional worth their himalayan pink salt will tell you, it's a great start to the day.
The fruit is generally thought of as an acid, but when ingested it actually becomes alkaline, helping to balance the body's PH levels. It flushes out toxins (queue the word 'cleansing') by stimulating your liver, whilst helping the liver produce more enzymes than any other substance, therefore improving it's function. Then there's the aided digestion, which in turn encourages regular bowel movements - and we all like a functioning bowel, right? Totally.
The list obviously doesn't end there (superfood, hello), it also fights hunger cravings, freshens breath, relieves heartburn, regulates blood pressure, reduces inflammation, helps all matters of skin issues from pimples, to wrinkles – even increasing your radiance and glow, due to the antioxidants detoxifying your blood. Shout out to the vitamin C it's packed full of, giving your immunity a massive boost. Also great for potassium levels (linked to anxiety and depression), which boost heart, brain and nerve functions too.
